Venice Study Tour

Venice 4

Santa Maria dei Miracoli by Pietro Lombardo – one of the greatest Early Renaissance structures in Venice

A City of Delight

We have just returned from a jam-packed study trip to Venice where we enjoyed a wide range of delights from Palladian Facades to Carlo Scarpa insertions and Titian paintings. We visited churches, museums and gardens plus there was no shortage of architectural detail at every corner. The churches of Venice contain the most extraordinary treasures of art in the world and formed the mainstay of our tour. One thousand years of history and faith speak though their walls and through the paintings, sculptures, goldsmith’s works and precious fabrics preserved in these fascinating buildings.

Chorus is an organisation that helps with the preservation and enhancement of this immense patrimony and encourages its knowledge by means of a museum circuit that covers the most important examples of Venetian religious architecture. The Chorus Pass costs 10 Euros and covers entry into 16 churches, including the must-see frescoed Frari and the ‘jewel box’ Miracoli. You can buy at the first stop and visit the others as you wander – stopping off for the occasional spritz con aperol and cicchetti in Venice’s many Bacari. www.chorusvenezia.org
